DATLaS projects examine language in its cultural, historical, and social context. Our mission is:

  • To understand language processing in the human mind and the relationship between language, society, identity and cognition.
  • To document the lives and connections of individuals in their communities
  • To engender understanding of the role and working of human language to support social justice
  • To train students in research and develop concrete skills related to language research, which are transferable to other domains.
  • To encourage collaborative and meaningful reciprocity between William and Mary and its community
